In the Art Institute of Chicago, there is a painting that stands out in my mind. It is the painting “La Grande Jette” by George Seuret. The painting features Parisians enjoying a Sunday by the Seine, a river near Neuilly. Many of the Parisians that are pictured are very well to do. have more a life other then to be used for men, as housewives, baby-sitters and other objects to be owned. This piece has many meaning to it. On how societies were and maybe in some ways still is. That it maybe a hundred and fourteen years later but many people just view others as a social status, an object to own, or maybe even dirt.
