Italian Nationalism
Nationalism is the love of one’s country rather than the love of one’s native region and the belief that one’s country is superior to that of anyone else’s. Italian nationalism became a strong force in the early 1800s when writers and thinkers became intent on reviving interest in Italy’s traditions. From nationalism spawned a desire for unification therefore, specific movements were founded allowing people to express these goals

Nonetheless, Italians at last had their own country and it was their ideas of nationalism or the love for their country that influenced them and led them to believe that they could achieve their goals of unifying and liberating Italy.
