Yes, there is little question that Saddam Hussein is no Martin Luther King, Jr.; no question that he is no Ghandi, no doubt that he has subjugated many millions of people and terrorized his own countrymen and has little right to legitimate leadership. Unfortunately, the story is not so simple and our own government is not immune to criticism in the making of this monster.

Most importantly, although Saddam is a gangster, we are somewhat responsible for who he is and what he did. We can cut a deal with him, and ship him to Libya or elsewhere, in exile, and he’ll go away ala Idi Amin. It will save thousands of lives and avoid tremendous turmoil.
