Immigration Americans are traditionally proud to say our country is made of immigrants. We have let a far greater amount of people into our country than any other country has. In 1900-1920 14.5 million immigrants came to America. The current rate of growth is 2.7 million people per year; the U.S. population is already growing too fast. There is less space for people, and the economy isn’t growing in the same way. The America entering 2000 is vastly different from the America of 1900-1920.
