The artificial boundaries that “world music” and non-western films have been confined to is insurmountable, and there has not been an effort uprooted strong enough to surpass these boundaries. It is like walking on unbreakable glass. Like western pop, Hollywood is seen as the fast food for movies. It sets the criteria by which we judge today’s movies and of course the Academy Award goes where “good” movies are made.
