a good example of Whitman’s idea that surroundings can shape a person’s life and outlook on life. The people that Huck came across influenced him greatly, and they taught him many lessons in life. The Widow, Pap, Jim, and the Grangerfords all contributed to Huck’s life and many of his decisions. They taught him right, wrong, and also what to do when times get tough. “And that…became a part of him.”
