the obvious ‘cat’ in the play, but to a certain extent many other characters are too, both physically and morally. For instance, Mae can be compared to the title for several reasons. The first of which is the reality that she must stay ‘at the top’. This can be comparable to the cat not only wanting to stay ‘cool’, but to retain its high status simultaneously.
The physicality’s of both characters are metaphorically unified
