How Women are portrayed in The Nibelungenlied
When you begin reading The Nibelungenlied, the first chapter is about the main woman character. Unlike the other stories we’ve read, the women usually aren’t introduced until the “important men” are, or after the men fight. The fighting between Kriemhild and Brunhild is still going on as we speak. Women and petty have evolved together and unfortunately may stick together for the next 800 years. Overall, I enjoyed having a heroine character for a change, and a woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for her self.
