Introduction
Enzymes are proteins that are involved in all the chemical processes in living things. As they are made of proteins they are affected by pH and temperature. Enzymes are catalysts; they speed up chemical reactions without being changed themselves. Digestive enzymes speed up the breakdown of large food molecules into smaller ones so that the blood can absorb them. Enzymes turn a large starch molecule into thousands of tiny glucose molecules. …showed last 75 words of 729 total…unable to repeat the experiment, as there was not enough time during the lesson. I think that we could have improved the method by checking the solution at more regular intervals, e.g. every minute. This would have told us more accurately how fast the amylase digested the starch. I think I could also have improved the method by having more of the solution. I don't think 1cm3 is enough to determine a proper conclusion.
