HEART OF DARKNESS

In Joseph Conrad’s novel Heart of Darkness it is the white invaders, who
are, almost without exception, embodiments of blindness, selfishness, and
cruelty. Even in the cognitive domain, where such positive phrases as to
enlighten, for instance, are conventionally opposed to negative ones such as

experienced along the way into the Inner Station. Kurtz's horror foreshadows
the conditions of every human who has some form of darkness deep within
waiting to be unleashed. Once it is released, this darkness leads to acts of horror and to a horror that descends as judgement on the perpetrator. The so-called “civilization” of Europe cannot channel it. It on rests hen it has consumed itself.
