he wanted back his belongings she had taken. As Tom found his wife, he “seized the
checked apron, but woeful sight! found nothing but a heart and liver tied up!” (pg.178)
Tom’s wife’s deal with the devil obviously had not gone as planned. Needless to say
her temptation lead her to destruction.
