Emil Artin
Emil Artin was an Austro-German mathematician born on March 3, 1898, in Vienna, Austria. He grew up in what is recently known as Czechoslovakia. When Emil was educated there it was a mainly German speaking city.

in The Collected Papers of Emil Artin (1965). The award of the American Mathematical Society’s Cole Prize in number theory honored him.
Besides mathematics, Artin had a deep interest in chemistry, astronomy, biology, and old music. He played the flute, the harpsichord, and the clavichord. He was also an amateur astronomer; he built his own telescope as a hobby. He died of a heart attack, at the age of 64 on December 20, 1962 in Hamburg, W. Germany.
