I think that Emerson's Self Reliance is probably inteded for the casual reader of the classics, or youth interested in developing their minds. Emerson makes many points through a series of figures of speech. A figure of speech is a word or phrase that describes one thing in terms of another. It's not meant to be taken literally, though. …showed last 75 words of 200 total…that way when something better comes along. Emerson expressed his feelings through nature and perceived through intuition rather than just understanding logic. This essay seemed rather circular, presenting similar ideas from many different angles. He uses short and sweet statements that express wise or clever observations about life. I had to reread this poem several times to fully understand his clever words of wisdom. I believed that this essay is pretty motivation.
