Electron Microscopes
Electron Microscopes (EMs) are scientific instruments that use a ray of electrons to examine small matter on a very fine scale. They are extremely useful, as they can produce the following information;
*Topography; this is how the surface appears, for example the texture.
*Morphology; this is the shape and size of the particles that make up the matter.
*Composition; this is the elements and the compounds the matter is composed of.
*Crystallographic Information;

then "scan" the beam.
*The Objective lens focuses the scanning beam onto the chosen part of the specimen.
*Interactions occur inside the specimen when the beam hits it which are detected with various instruments, they count the number of interactions and display their findings on a pixel (the more reactions the brighter the pixel).
*The process is repeated until the grid scan is finished and the whole process pattern can be repeated 30 times a second.
