The checks and balances that exist in our constitution is definitely a wise and prudent decision made by our Founding Fathers. They were learned in politics to predict that, without checks and balances, a democracy will sway towards the republic, which will eventually sway towards a monarch. And that would mean that mankind would be doomed once again, for they will never be able to properly govern themselves.
