He has undergone a physical transformation, giving him most of the body of a Dune sandworm, while retaining his mind and prescient powers. The Universe is completely in his grip. Even the farthest planets are under his control. The time scale of the Dune books is really wired. …

…possible. So I would have to say that this story could happen. I believe that in the future we will have knowledge of other planets and life forms so I guess the sky's the limit when it comes to the future. God Emperor of Dune is another book with a nice snap ending. This book has a non-predictable ending when some people like and some don't.
