Often times a persons actions do not reflect their true feelings and thoughts. This is seen throughout the novel Crime and Punishment, by Fydor Dostoyevsky. This style of writing also allows Dostoyevsky to give more insight into Raskolnikov’s personality then if it were written from just one point of view. Crime and Punishment was written in an outer and inner monologue style to help develop Raskolnikov’s character and better show his state of mind.
