Many people confused, lonely, and depressed in life, which causes them to commit suicide. “The Center of Attention” by Daniel Hoffman and “My Sad Self” by Allen Ginsberg, are two poems, which have many similarities and a few differences. Firstly, the theme of loneliness is presented in both these poems. Moreover, there is some form or indication of suicide and hope or well being, presented by the two characters in these poems. evidently want to commit suicide. The character in “The Center if Attention” reconsiders suicide, on the other hand the character in “My Sad Self” follows through with committing suicide. Lastly, there is an opposite focus of attention directed towards each character in the two poems. It is sad how people are capable of being lonely. Everyone needs at least that one person in his or her life to turn to in a time of loneliness.
