The Color of Water by James McBride was a good choice for a campus reading for incoming freshmen. This book was really a great book, it dealt with diversity, religion, racism, acceptance, self-sacrifice, and hardships, the majority of these are issues for freshman. the same situations that Ruth and her family went though, like diversity, religion, racism, acceptance, and self-sacrifice and I know that every other freshman is going though the same thing here at Elon or at any other college or university in which they are attending. This was a great book, that really puts everything into perspective for new incoming freshmen, and reading this book before their arrival will make an immense impact in their lives.
