Chant Through the Ages
For the last few years, one of the newest fads in the music repertoire has been the recording of New Age chant. The music has won a loyal musical following-it is true. But I think the religious significance of the music has been lost with this “New Age” alteration, and the highest and best use of the music remains largely neglected.

life in Christ. We shouldn’t allow chant to be relegated to the realm of "easy listening” because chant is not meant to be easy. It demands a discipline of mind and heart that subordinates the self to the Word even as the melody is subordinated to the text.
Chant’s heritage should not be lost into New Age music, because it would be the loss of the artistic soul and disciplined form of Christendom.
