Canterbury tales
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer demonstrates the diverse personalities in society. The ability of all people to relate to the characters makes their themes understandable. In the Prologue Chaucer introduces briefly the characters of the work. Each character uniquely presents traits and themes all can apply. This paper focuses on the following three characters of the Friar, the Oxford Cleric, and the Merchant, from the many that inhabit the work.

Chaucer ably uses a person from every facet of society, which immerses the reader into the story because the reader can relate to a character. Amazingly the reader can draw something from each character that pertinently applied to life. In every one of The Canterbury Tales the reader can retain an important message, only if he wants.
