“Cancer arises from mistimed or misplaced cell division or absence of normal apoptosis
(Gaffin, p.152).” Apoptosis is a type of cell death that is a normal part of development.
Cancer happens when cells begin to divide more rapidly than the cell from which they
came from, and continue doing so. The cells are able to grow due to mitosis, which is a
form of cell division that enables an organism to grow by adding cells.

very small
blood vessels, they pass through the walls to invade tissues (Goldman p.302).
In conclusion, cancer cells defy the natural cell cycle. They create their own blood
supply through angiogenesis and grow beyond the normal cell limit. They continually
reproduce and with each time it mutates to a stronger more adaptable cell. As expressed
throughout our research you can easily see how powerful cancer really is, by their
determined nature to strive for survival.
