In some sense, the end of the Mexican War was the beginning of the Civil War. Also, the Mexican conflict became a good field experience for some of the military officers. While participating in the Mexican War, they trained themselves to be good soldiers. Later, during the Civil War, they made their military careers, becoming leading generals.
