The society in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World is primarily based upon consumption. Anything and everything that does not involve consumption is immediately deemed unorthodox. People, who do not consume, are detrimental towards the brave new world.

In conclusion, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World is about a society whose everyday life is based upon consumption. Non-consumption or preservation is unorthodox and not permitted. In the words of Mustapha Mond, “Unorthodoxy threatens more than the life of a mere individual; it strikes at the Society itself”(Huxley 148).
