and the Americans provoked it. For their self defense the soldiers had to fire or else they might of have been killed by the mob. Then propaganda would pop up saying they killed 20 soldiers with ease. I see the Boston Massacre as a way for the Americans to awake the public and push people from pro British to pro American. The death of the five men seemed to hurt Britain more than it hurt America.
