Octavian better known as Augustus was the adopted son of Julius Caesar. Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators led by Brutus and Cassius on the steps of the Roman senate on March 15, 44 B.C. The assasin’s thought that Caesar was hiring uneligible people as representatives. The senators thought by killing Caesar it would bring peace upon Rome, but it just brought upon a civil war. the thought of a dictator or monarch, Augustus did a good job at keeping the Romans happy on a regular basis. Whenever a ruler in any society is popular amongst his people anything that goes well in the community is looked at to be associated with the person in charge. Augustus had more or less complete control over his people yet having one person in charge went against every thing the Roman people believed in.
