When I think of how I could be able t relate to Master Harold and the boys by Athol
Fugard, very little seems to come to mind. In my life I have not personally experienced any of
the racist experiences that were exhibited in the play. When I was young my parents instilled
in me the idea of accepting people for their personal characteristics and not their physical ones.

saddest part of this was that neither Willie nor Sam were phased
one bit by this behavior as if they were accustomed to it. I was also shocked over Harold’s
conviction in offending Willie and Sam at the end of the play. It appeared to me that Willie
and Sam were his only friends and that his idea of his own superiority was more important than
keeping a partial relationship with either of them.
