Capturing the essence of the natives was a good record for what people believed the inhabitants of the new world to be like as well. The people of Europe had no idea what the new world looked like for the most part and especially not the natives. By keeping accurate records of their civilization, Davis helped in education of future explorers and of the people during that time - a true anthropologist.
