I think this poem is actually kind of humorous in the story it tells. Sure it is a little bit sad in the fact that a big bunch of stranded sailors turn cannibal to stay alive, but people get desperate to survive. It is a little sick in the cannibalistic ways, but its humor shines through at the end.

later they were rescued by a barge. When police found out about the incident, they arrested the two men and they then faced murder charges. They were found guilty, because since he backed out of the deal, it was no longer binding. Since they killed him, it was considered murder. I just thought it was interesting and was relevant to this poem. It’s a sick and yet funny one, all at the same time.
