couldn’t hand the Philippines over to anyone, especially back to Spain. We couldn’t cut
them loose because they were not fit to govern themselves. The only option would be to
seize full control over the Philippines and educate, civilize, and Christianize them. This
shows the effects of how politics and ideals come into play when making decisions which
could have huge impacts on our country and countries we interact with.
