of sailors could not be tolerated. Many Americans believed that there was no other way to solve this problem except for going to war with Britain. However, many Americans did not see it the same way. An example of this was the narrow margin that Madison won reelection by. The war of 1812 was complicated, and filled with the possibility of ulterior motives and conspiracy.
