Fear is the main influence on the boys’ actions throughout Lord of the Flies. Fear; anxiety caused by the expectation of evil danger. Fear is a powerful emotion and the boys’ inability to overcome their fears and need to hunt an imaginary beast, resulted in Simon’s death. Fear plays a major role in the actions displayed by the boys throughout The Lord of the Flies.
