battle with. Throughout the story, there seems to be clear evidence that there is some sort of evil
power that is trying to transform the children, Miles and Flora, into tools of evil for Peter Quint

is lost to you forever!” The thought of not having the boy for his evil ways thus made him again
possess the boy and take his life. The Governess has lost the battle with the spirts at Bly, and more
importantly, lost the children that she had grown to love very much.
