Through the novel Ralph not only goes from adolescent to adulthood in actions, but also evolves as a great leader. Without Ralph’s ability to lead others through these rough times, the survival of any of the kids would have been doubtful at best. The qualities of initiative, structure, and being able to listen to suggestions are great qualities of a leader that Ralph possesses.
